American Honey Bee Queen

Gabrielle Hemesath was named the 2015 American Honey Bee Queen. Gabrielle is the daughter of Mary and Russell Hemesath of Clermont, Iowa. She became interested in beekeeping at a young age and began working in a commercial beekeeping operation in 2008.

Through her work, Gabrielle found a great love for honeybees and now owns two hives of her own. Gabrielle is a student at Iowa State University, studying marketing. During her free time, Gabrielle enjoys reading, biking, and baking.

The Straight Story Movie

The Straight Story is a 1999 film directed by David Lynch. The movie, based on real events, is about a man who travels through the midwest on a lawnmower to see his daughter in a neighboring state. Alvin Straight travels on a 20 mile journey from Iowa to Wisconsin to see his ailing brother. In real events, Alvin passes through Clermont and stops to receive help.
