Union Sunday School Concert – 8-16-2026
Event by Montauk Historic Site
406 Larrabee St, Clermont, IA 52135-8695, United States
The 1896 Kimball Pipe Organ at the Union Sunday School will again grace an audience with its beautiful notes for the 46th annual Union Sunday School Concert Series. Montauk Historic Site, in partnership with the Clermont Historical Society, is excited to announce that Haleena Thompson, a University of Iowa student in Organ Performance, will be performing the first concert of the series.
Haleena Thompson is a young organist currently studying with Dr. Gregory Hand to earn her BM in Organ Performance. While attending the University of Iowa, she plays in many local recitals, organizes a continuo club, and is involved as a registrant helping Dr. Hand prepare the largely unperformed works of German Romantic composer Johanna Senfter, which will culminate in a recording project in Germany. Haleena is also interested in music theory, learning jazz piano, and writing scores for youth Scottish pipe bands. In the future, she is hoping to pursue graduate education and teach organ lessons in the community.
Following the concert, the Clermont Historical Society will provide refreshments at the Clermont Opera House – one block from the Union Sunday School.
If you’ve never been to one of our concerts, come check it out! The annual Union Sunday School Concert Series features performances by trained musicians on the largest Kimball Pipe Organ in the United States. Built in 1896, the organ was a gift presented by former Iowa Gov. William Larrabee to his daughter, Anna, who was the church’s organist for more than 60 years.
August 16th at 2:00 pm at the Union Sunday School in Clermont, Iowa.
